Best Comeback Ever

What was the greatest response to a diss?
Boogie Down Productions with the Bridge Is Over? Nahhhh.
The Game with 300 Bars and Runnin'? Not even close.
Jay-Z with The Takeover? That's a little closer.
Believe it or not, the greatest battle was between two juggernauts in opposite music genres.

In February 2008, the organizers of the legendary British rock concert, Glastonbury, announced that Jay-Z would be headlining the festival, a feat no other hip hop artist had ever done. Legendary frontman Noel Gallagher, of the super rockband Oasis, (stupidly) stated this:
"I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
- Noel Gallagher

The Gallagher brothers, notably Noel, are known for their catchy music and degrading comments of others. But this harsh remark had had to be the most cruel of them all. So how could Jay-Z respond to this diss by possibly the biggest band of the past two decades? Here's how:

Jay-Z Live @ Glastonbury from @ndre$ito on Vimeo.

The opening set is why this battle surpasses any other exchange between two artists. To come out, play Wonderwall chords on the guitar, and sing your opponents most popular song AND THEN have 150,000 fans sing it along with you has got to be the greatest counterattack in music history. Oasis had no idea how to respond to this. They had no idea that an artist that was so different in terms of music could woo the hearts of hundreds of thousands of rock & roll fans. And then to add insult to injury Jay-Z released a single, titled Jockin' Jay-Z of Blueprint (dropping soon!) in which he spit
"That bloke from Oasis said I couldn't play guitar/ Somebody said shoulda told him I'm a fuckin rock star"

Oasis had no response once again. Just goes to show you that you cant mess with the king. Adding up the score, the final tally is:
Jay-Z: 2
Oasis: -1 (Oasis broke up recently)
